Lymphedema can be divided into 2 types.

1.         Primary lymphedema

2.         Secondary lymphedema

In other words,

 It can occur alone (primary Lymphedema) or,

 It can be caused by another disease or condition (secondary Lymphedema).Secondary Lymphedema is much more common than primary lymphedema. 

.Primary lymphedema

 Primary Lymphedema is a rare hereditary disease, caused by problems with the development of the lymphatic vessels in your body.

Secondary lymphedema

Secondary lymphedema is a common conditioncaused by some other diseases and conditions.
