2. To test for malaria before treatment
3. That low platelet count is a feature of malaria
4. That dengue and malaria can co-exist
5. To exclude malaria from all unconscious patients

1. Business travellers visiting India and other malaria endemic countries
2. Gem traders visiting Mozambique/Madagascar
3. Sri Lankan armed forces engaged in UN peace keeping missions
4. Asylum seekers & refugees
5. Foreign nationals – eg: foreign labour, tourists, students
6. Pilgrims to India and safari travellers to Africa
